James Hunt Invited to Prestigious International Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction

08/14/2008 Detroit, MI

James Hunt, a rookie driver in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series, was invited by the sanctioning body to attend the recent International Motorsports Hall of Fame Dinner as a driver representative.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the banquet. Drivers inducted into the Hall of Fame were Michael Andretti, John Force, Buddy Baker, Richie Ginther, Paul Goldsmith, Betty Skelton and Wayne Rainey.

Among the many motorsports legends at the Fillmore Detroit were Mario Andretti, Hurley Haywood, Bobby Unser, Don Prudhomme, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Shirley Muldowney, Joe Amato and Chris Economaki, along with many major manufacturer representatives, racing promoters and sanctioning body leaders, including Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson.

Enjoying the company of so many accomplished individuals in the racing community, Hunt's professional demeanor shined through. Changing roles from that of a driver's suit to that of a business suit, he continued to build a strong reputation as a well spoken professional young man on and off the race track.

"What a wonderful event! Tonight I met some of my heroes; Mario Andretti and John Force are living legends in racing, Hunt said. Having Grand-Am invite me to attend this event is an honor and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity. The Motorsports Hall of Fame is an amazing organization that really goes the extra mile to honor those in our sport that have helped progress it to where we are today. This event will forever hold a place in my memory and I can only hope that someday I am fortunate enough to be a part of such a remarkable organization."

Hunt resumes his role in a driver's suit at Virginia International Raceway on October 4-5 for the final round of the Grand Am KONI Challenge Series.
