JAMES HUNT MAKES GRAND-AM DEBUT ON SPEED TONIGHT

2/4/2008 PHILADELPHIA, PA

Grand AM Koni Challenge ST driver James Hunt makes his pro racing debut tonight at 8 pm EST on SPEED, participating in the Fresh From Florida 200 held at The Daytona International Speedway last weekend.

"Becoming a professional racecar driver has been my dream since childhood. I was able to see my dream come true last weekend on the high banks at Daytona during the Rolex 24 Hour weekend activities. I cannot wait to get back out on the track again."

Driving the Team Cobalt California turbo charged Chevrolet Cobalt SS Hunt and teammate Mike Skeen took on almost 100 cars in the 3 hour long KONI Challenge Season opener. The 24 year old Philadelphia, PA native, came to grips quickly with the discipline of endurance road racing while learning a new track and working with a new team. "General Motors builds a really impressive car with an incredibly strong foundation for a program like Team Cobalt California to race and succeed in the KONI Challenge Series. I have always wanted to race in a team environment where you have to rely on every crew member and co-driver to maximize your potential, and for what we were able to accomplish in the Fresh From Florida 200 I came away with nothing but a positive outlook on what the future may hold for me."

The race proved to be a major learning curve for Hunt, having to adapt to changing conditions, a track filled with cars and to deliver a fast but reliable pace to keep his Cobalt SS on track. "We started in 19th position in class and finished in 22nd..We were able to set consistently fast times. Although we had some clutch issues that prevented us from showing our full potential, I learned a lot about nursing a car home to the finish for my team and codriver in incredibly tough conditions."

Hunt, will be a familiar face to SPEED viewers and on SPEEDtv.com, with his participation in Season 2 of the SPEED'S reality show "Setup"..He.has also.been selected as the subject of a year long feature series on SPEEDtv.com, following.his pursuit to turn his dream of becoming a professional racecar driver into reality. With the second race of the season 3 months away follow Hunt's progress to earn a season long ride on SPEEDtv.com.
